Resource Libraries
PSCNT has two Resource Libraries in the Northern Territory – the Northern Resource Library and Central Resource Library. The Central Resource Library in Alice Springs is managed by the Children’s Service Support Program (CSSP) while the Northern Resource Library in Winnellie/Darwin is managed by Early Childhood Australia.
The Resource Library items support early childhood educators meet programming and professional needs. Resources include information on child development, additonal needs and disability, diversity and inclusion, child protection, quality practice in early childhood education, and topics as diverse as toileting, grief and emotional development.
A wide range of multicultural items including costumes, artefacts, children’s books, music, games, and posters are available. These can be borrowed in kit form or individually to enhance the diversity and inclusivity of an early childhood service’s program. There are also toys, games, photo sets, cause and effect toys and children’s books.
Membership
There are a range of membership options for those wishing to access the Resource Centre.
Many membership options include access to our members only area of our website. This includes access to a variety of procedural handbooks and “policies to go by” to assist service meet regulatory requirements.
To join the Northern Resource Library (and obtain access to the members only area of our website), please download the individual membership formp and organisation membership form here.
To join the Central Resource Library (and obtain access to the members only area of our website), please download the organisation membership form and individual membership form here.
Specialist Equipment
The Libraries also coordinate Specialist Equipment to support the inclusion of children with a disability and high ongoing support needs in the Northern Territory.
To access this equipment from our Resource Libraries a child must be attending Australian Government Approved Childcare Services (AGACCS) and the equipment needs should be identified by the early childhood educator and Inclusion Support Facilitator (from a regionally based Inclusion Support Agency) in the Service Support Plan. Details of the equipment requested are included in an Inclusion Support Subsidy application. This information is then forwarded to our Specialist Equipment Team who provide the equipment following consultation with the child’s therapists and the Childcare program coordinator.
